1999 FA Cup – Manchester United
The 1999 FA Cup Final took place on 22 May 1999 and was played at the old Wembley Stadium. It was contested between Manchester United and Newcastle United who were keen to avenge their loss in the previous years Cup Final. Unfortunately for Magpies the result would be exactly the same with Manchester United winning 2-0 to pick up their 10th title.
Teddy Sheringham opened the scoring in the 11th minute just 3 minutes after coming on as an early replacement for an injured Roy Keane. They dominated the rest of the first-half with several good chances not accepted by Andy Cole, Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer and Sheringham.
Newcastle continued to find it hard to get into the match and it was as good as over when Paul Scholes made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute.
The Wembley victory completed yet another “Double” for the dominant Manchester United. They completed their most successful season ever when they won the Champions League a week later.
