Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United battled back after Arsenal’s Andrei Arshavin gave the Gunners a first-half lead with a magnifiicent strike.  The Old Trafford fans may been thinking about a repeat of the Burnley disaster but they recovered well in the second half to beat Aresnal 2-1.

Wayne Rooney converted a penalty after being fouled by keeper Almunia as he ran into the penalty box.  Just a few minutes later defender Arsenal Abou Diaby had a brain explosion and inconceivably directed a free-kick into his own goal gining all 3 points to United.

Acting Gunners captain Robin van Persie had the ball in the net late on, but William Gallas was ruled offside and the points were gone.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was sent to the stands after he reacted angrily to the late disallowed goal.
